We love snow!! Well, I don’t and Jason isn’t into shoveling and Lila is a beach girl…..
So, no we don’t like snow but it does make our yard look pretty. And we are SO happy to have a drive way to shovel that we don’t have to worry that once we move the car someone will “steal” our spot..
Skylar Rose is 6 months old!!
We are loving being in our new home for the Christmas season! We found a huge fake tree in the garage and we set it up on the porch, decorated the porch rails and the door with garland and lights, lovely! The tree we found at the orchard looks amazing in the living room too. Lila loved going through the ornaments and decorating the tree. Skylar was a good baby and as usual slept through most of it.
Thank you Gail and Tom for bringing your darling Sophie Girl to see us. We love you and were so happy to see you!
Happy 1st Thanksgiving Skylar Rose and Happy Thanksgiving to us in our new home!
Skylar Rose is 4 months old and just the sweetest butterball we’ve ever met! She’s started eating cereal and loves it, just like her sister did. Yum!
Marlena Grace was born! She is a perfect little angel and did great in delivery. Her sister loves her to pieces and cousin Lila couldn’t wait to meet her. We are so happy to have a best little girlfriend for Skylar Rose. It’s so special that both my girls get to have cousins close by that are their exact same age, magical!
Lila Pearl turned 5 this month with a huge bash at the house. Lila chose a fairy party and all her friends showed up as pixie fairy princesses! It was a bit chilly but the kids loved the jumper house in the backyard as well as the wand craft and the pin the wings on the fairy. She was overwhelmed with the lovely gifts she received and was overjoyed with her special day!
The First Suburban Halloween was a blast. Lila looked beautiful as Cleopetra and we did a family theme for the work party. We went Trick or Treating with the neighbors, while the kids ran wild we enjoyed a few beers. The neighborhood was dark and fairly empty but the kids had a great time, even though they were freezing! Skylar was happy to be strolled along
Lila is loving being a big sister and Skylar is loving the attention. We’ve spent a lot of time outside this fall and the girls love having the big yard and all the leaves to play in.
Lila has been participating in soccer for the last few months. She spends most of the time chasing after her friends who are chasing after the ball. She flutters around and giggles and twirls and has a good time. We are pretty sure she won’t be going pro any time soon.
18th – Skylar Rose is Three Months Old!
17lbs 26 inches
12th – Skylar is 12 weeks old
8th – The weather is hot and cold this month but we were able to sneak in a long weekend beach vacation. We had a wedding to go to so Oma and Granddad came along to watch the girls. The sun was shining all weekend and we hit the beach and the boardwalk. Lila couldn’t keep herself out of the ocean even though it was freezing. She loved the boardwalk, the treats and the arcades. Oma and Granddad took the girls to the boardwalk while we were at the wedding for dancing and fireworks. Lila had the time of her life and said it was the best vacation ever! This was also Skylar’s first trip to the beach, she was an angel as always!
6th- We took Oma out for a drive and found an awesome playgound!
4th – SISITERS!
3rd – We had a great day apple picking with the girls and a bunch of friends. It was our first time and Lila loved eating the apples right off the trees! Lila also had her first caramel apple which she thought was way too sticky. Skylar came along and spent the day in the sling and loved watching all the fun.
This month starts with Y camp and again Lila is so excited to meet new friends.
Lila started swimming again and during the summer it’s 4 days a week. She is excelling and is loving it. I think she’s going to be our swim team girl and I’ll be so excited to cheer her on. She had lessons all month and has even started to learn how to dive. She loves swimming in the deep end and is serious about wearing her goggles.
The baby is here! We had a wonderful Saturday at the local pool with Lila and when we go home it was ready to go to the hospital. Since I wasn’t in any pain and the doctor said there wasn’t a rush we were able to take Lila to Roxie and Reese’s and have a snack before we went in. The delivery didn’t come until Sunday and we kept Dana updated by texted. She said Lila was having a great time and couldn’t wait to hear the news. The baby was born at 9:55am and Lila was the first call we made, she had a sister! She was so happy! Since we didn’t have a name we needed the next few hours to name her Skylar Rose, she is perfect just like her sister. Dana brought Lila to the hospital to meet her sister and Oma and Granddad met her there too. After snuggling Skylar she went home to get everything ready for her arrival. Lila came back to the hospital to drive Skylar home with us and was very excited to sit next to her in the car. When we got home she shed a few tears now that she had to share her mommy. But she loves her sister and is doing great as a big sister.
Lila loves her new house and is adjusting great. We went back to clean and finish clearing out the old house. Lila walked in and said, “Where are we? I don’t even remember this place!” I drove Lila back to her old school to finish out the year and attend graduation. She did great and didn’t mind saying goodbye to her friends, she is such a big girl. Lila had her first ballet recital and loved being up on stage. The girls were so little and didn’t really stick with their routine but they were so happy and enjoyed being in their fancy tutus. Lila attended her first day camp, Zoo camp and had a great time. The drive back and forth was a bit long and it was hot but she loved hanging out with the kids and made friends so easily.
Lila is such a good girl and we love her so. She is getting kind of excited to become a big sister but she’s still not sure if she’s going to like it. She talks to my belly and tells the baby, “I love you”. We had her signed up for a sibling class at the hospital which I thought she wanted to go to. When we were leaving the house we picked a doll to bring along and she started crying. She was worried about going to a class and the other kids there. When we met up with Jason she wanted to talk to him alone and she told him she was worried about what they were going to ask her. She was concerned that she would have to say she wasn’t sure about being a big sister and that she was worried that we wouldn’t be able to love her as much as we do now. She is such a thinker. I can’t tell her more times a day how much we love her but she thinks and thinks about everything. When we got to the class, it was canceled! BOOO. So we took her to dinner and a fair that was across the street. So, her nerves turned into super fun and she had a wonderful night. So did we! We told her how glad we were she suggested to fair because we had so much fun; she was really proud This girl loves to ride rides. Jason and I told her we can’t wait to take her on roller coasters and how Grandad would make me go on the scary rides with him and now I love them, she thought that was really funny.
Lila is getting ready to be a big sister. She is helping us paint and get the babies room ready, she’s clearing out the new house of old stuff, learning to feed Anderson and playing gently with Anderson. She even got to babysit Anderson this month!
The day has finally arrived, play date with Lila’s boyfriend Anthony! Anthony is going to have a new baby too, due the same day as Lila’s new baby!
April 1st – April 5th
Spring has Sprung or actually turned to summer in Richmond !
Lila and I had a great road trip down south; we hit a lot of traffic but Lila was amazing in the car as usual. Lila didn’t waste any time, she got busy right out of the car. Bike riding, wagon riding, car washing, barbies, Marco the cat and of course playing with her best playmate, Grandad!
We celebrated Easter by having an egg hunt in the garden, dying eggs and when Daddy sure came down heading to an Easter Fair. It was so hot and so many kids that we didn’t do that well in the Fair’s crazy egg hunt but Lila was just as happy finding dandelions as she was finding candy. She is just the sweetest thing. Easter day we went to church and had a yummy lunch we also went for a Easter Hike and enjoyed ourselves outside. And of course Easter Ice cream!
Boo, Daddy had to go home. But the girls decided to keep their vacation going. We took a trip to the amazing botanical gardens and had fun getting ideas for the new house. And playing in the huge kids area; too bad the water sprinklers weren’t on, it was hot!
Lila has been coming into our bed in the middle of the night or early in the morning. She is trying hard to stay in her bed and we give her little incentives when she does after a few nights. Well last night she came in and was squishing me all night and early in the morning I could feel her slowly moving towards the end of the bed and then sneaking back into her room. I foiled her plan of pretending she stayed in her bed all night by asking her what she was doing. So she came over to me and rubbed my cheek and told me to go back to sleep, “it’s not morning time”. That little sneak!
Jason was putting Lila to bed tonight and I heard them singing and laughing, of course it took her forever to finally fall asleep. When Jason came down he told me she said, “I had so much fun with you tonight Daddy, not like that one time”. Lila remembers one time months and months ago (maybe a year ago) where she would not go to sleep and Jason got mad. He can’t believe that she is still holding that grudge
Mom had the best birthday ever! Dad and I took her to the Crayola Discovery Zone and then to dinner in the neighborhood. We had so much fun making things and doing crafts, our favorite! We forgot to sing to mom but tomorrow night, I promise we will.
Oma and Granddad came to visit us for Mom’s birthday. We played Twister (Mom won), went to the flower show and went to NM for dinner!
Not sure where she was planning to go … but she’s ready!
February 14th – Lila’s Valentine’s Day cookies!
While we were in CT a huge storm hit home. Surprisingly we got home really easy but when we got home we realized we were in for it! We had two feet of snow and then more the next day and then more after that. We have never seen this much snow and after getting house bound for a week we were all sick of it.
Went to Connecticut to see Mimi and Gramps and ended up in a bubble!
February 7th – 4 Years 3 months
Happy New Year!!
January 7th – 4 Years 2 months
For Jason’s birthday Lila wanted to take her Daddy to the dinosaur museum, so to the Natural History Museum we went. We all enjoy the dinos and the butterflies but the giant dioramas are gross. Lila asks about if the animals are real and why they are dead behind the glass and of course, we tell her. Not too graphic but we aren’t going to make something up! Even Jason is bugged at the extent of the “samples” that were procured. But Happy Birthday!
Another wonderful holiday bit the dust. We had so much fun; so many parties, so many presents; so much go go go!
News Years Eve Oma and Grandad had both the grand-girls over the house and had a rocking party!
The day after Christmas we had our traditional party at Anderson’s house, cousin Leyton was even up for the holiday. Lila and Ava were so good with the babies and loved spending time with them. Mimi gave Lila the most beautiful recital tutu and she accessorized it with Kate’s fur wrap. We shared the news of the new baby!
After relaxing a bit Christmas morning we headed over to Elsa’s for dinner and more gift giving. The girls had a wonderful time playing with Elsa’s new toys and exchanging their gifts; Lila even bought Elsa’s a cute notebook and pen from her school shop. We told everyone the good news that Lila was going to be a big sister!
Christmas Day Santa arrived and guess what he brought Lila??? Barbie Dream Townhouse just what she “always wanted!” She had been asking that the house be on her list for months and she was so excited that he could actually bring it to her in his sleight and all put together. Santa also brought her Bendaroos which she had wanted for a year, lucky girl!
Christmas Eve we went to church with Oma and Grandad and Santa stopped by to give baby Jesus a little gift. The we came home and had dinner and unwrapped lots and lots of presents.
Christmas is here and here we go…Lila had her school concert which Oma and Grandad drove up for. As usual, she got a bit of stage fright and didn’t do much singing but she looked really cute We are getting ready by decorating the tree, wrapping presents and making cookies. Lila is so excited for the holiday this year and it is really making the holiday fun!
Lila’s first huge snow fall of the season! We had a wonderful time playing, we shoveled, walked all over the neighborhood. Lila went sledding for her first time and liked it when mama went down with her but when dad went down so fast she jumped off the sled and stomped her foot and said, “I am never doing that again!”
After playing with Mimi and Gramps all day after the office party they came over to make the traditional ginger bread house. Lila ate a lot of icing and candy while we were building but we had a great time and the house came out fantastic!
We started the partying at the Office Holiday party and Lila rocked out to one of her favorite bands and we all stayed up late! Lila was so excited to stay in the hotel too and got to snuggle with Mimi and Gramps all night
Happy 4th Birthday, Lila Pearl!
How is it possible that our little lady is so big already, it seems like just yesterday we brought her home from the hospital…but it also seems like she’s always been a part of our lives. We just love her so much.
We had two great parties on her birthday. First we had some friends over for face painting, cup cake decorating, jewelry box painting and lots of playing. The face painting was amazing and the children loved it. Lila went first and she came up with a Snow Leopard, all the kids got to make up anything they wanted to be. This was Ava’s first face painting and she loved it. Lila got so many amazing gifts from her friends. Then the rest of the family showed up and we partied the rest of the evening and Lila felt like such a special big four year old.
Happy Birthday Grandad and Happy Halloween!
Our girl rocked it in her Wonder Woman Costume. We talked about Wonder Woman at the beginning of the year and I showed her old tv clips. She was so into it she knew right then that was her costume. She loved it and was proud or herself. We went Trick or Treating on Main Street, then to the annual party and Augie and Gracie’s then we Treated all around the neighborhood. We had so much fun and got tons of candy!
Lila had a great time at Elsa’s Halloween birthday party and her school parade and concert. She even defended Little Red Riding Hood from the Super Hero and Terminator boys. Then we went to Weblinc for the annual costume contest and office gathering.
Happy Birthday Uncle Paul!
So we are in the process of buying the new house and we just accepted an offer on our house. My stomach is a wreck and I’m trying to figure out ways to make Lila excited about moving. She has been so scared of her closest, ghosts and being alone, I don’t want it make it harder on her when we move. She is the best girl ever and I want her to be happy in her new big house and her giant yard! Ugh, my stomach.
While dancing with Lila, she turned to me shook her finger and said, “Get that baby out of my face!”
“Mama, may I have a cannoli?’
(what does this little German girl know about Italian pastry?)
“Mommy did dinosaurs really live on our world”?
“Yes, a long long time ago”.
“For real, for real ? A long long time ago ? Like in the 70′s?”
As she is singing….”I never even had singing lessons. I just sing from my heart”.
I didn’t realize how fast summer was moving along and how behind I have been at updating Lila’s blog. We had an cool and rainy early summer so we spent a lot of time at the library and the kids museum. Lila practiced ring her bike, we played at the pool a bunch, spent a lot of time with Elsa and took a trip to CT, Va and a few trips to the beach.
We went to mom’s favorite place, Dutch Wonderland and had a great time with Dad too.
Jeff, Melody, JD and Aunt Jean came in for a visit and took them to the Kids Museum, through Philadelphia and dinner at NM. It was so nice to see them and we had a great day.
Lila is a full on kid now, I can’t believe she’s not old enough to start kindergarten but that’s the way the calendar goes. We enjoyed being together again everyday this summer but I think both of us are ready for her to get back to school part time. Here are some of my favorite summer pics:
June 20th – “Mommy, if we have another baby I’ll fold all of his laundry. Don’t worry you won’t have to do it”.
June 10th – I asked Lila why I got to have her, the best girl ever. She replied, “All the kids are the best girls and boys”.
June 7th – Happy Birthday LP!
June 5th – Lila loves loves loves to sing. She loves the movie and soundtrack of Annie, we must listen and sign along to it every time we are in the car. She now says her imaginary daughter, Kelsa, is not her real darling but she adopted her because her parents died. So, do you think I exposed her to Annie too soon??
She also loves to sing original songs. Last night she was singing, “I want to hold your hand and cry because you are so beautiful”. She might have been getting that from all the Beatles she listens too as well. She’s the best.
June 4th – Lila finished her thrid set of swim lessons. She loves being in the water but doesn’t always loved getting her face wet. She was over a year younger than the other kids and she did just as well as them….except she wouldn’t jump in and go under. Oh, well! She didn’t want to mess up her curls!
May 19th – Last day of Miss Jackie’s gym class – BOO! Lila has done so amazing in this class. She listens and participates so well. She also is getting to be quite athletic; on beam and the bars especially. She loves to hand and pull her legs up and climb the walls.
May 16th – Fun day in Kensignton!
May 11th – Jason and Lila got me a balloon animal making kit, which Lila loves.
The second day we had it I blew her up a balloon and turned around to make dinner.
A minute later I turn around and she has made this….it’s a dog right?!?!
Jason and I thought it was amazing and Lila thought it was so funny.
I asked her how she made it and she said, “I have no idea!!”
May 7th – HAPPY 3 1/2 BIRTHDAY LILA! We had such a great time celebrating Lila’s birthday and we even had dinner out at her favorite Mexican restaurant!
May 6th – I had a wonderful Mother’s Day Tea at Lila’s school today. First she had her ballet recital, which was very sweet. Then we moved into the Tea room for a concert by the kids and had lovely place settings made by our kids waiting for us. Lila made me a beautiful box with her picture, a placemat with a poem,a flower in a seed pot and two super yummy rice krispie treats! She had been working on all these treasures for weeks but was able to keep it all secret from me. Good god Lila Pearl!
After the Tea Lila and I went to the Museum. Being able to go during the day is ideal because you get to play without the crowds. Much to Lila’s surprise Mother Goose was there today and Lila got to listen to tons of rhymes. We might have been stalking her as we followed and cornered her a few times during our visit.
May 2nd – One of Lila’s friends from school, Kaitlyn, had a super fun 4th brithday. Crown making. balloon animals, DJ. kids games, face painter and tons of food. Lila had a great time and so did we
April 25th – Lila is really into drawing people now. She includes all the details, hands, fingers, eyes, eyeballs, earrings on the girls and a goatee for Daddy!
April 20th – School pictures arrived!
April 13th – We just got back from our first visit to Asheville NC to visit Aunt Raegan and Uncle Hunter for Leighton’s baby shower. We had a fun visit and Lila loved playing with the dogs. We loved being on vacation and loving touring the city.
April 7th – Happy Birthday Lila Pearl !
Last night I had a book club gathering so Jason and Lila were left to go crazy. This morning Lila told me they were in the art studio making a card for me and they hid it and she can’t tell me where because it will ruin the surprise. She also gave me a big hug and said Happy Birthday! I said today is not my birthday it’s tomorrow. She replied, “Will you invite me to your party?”
How can 7 words uttered by a 3 year old break your heart and make you love so much at the same time?
March 8th – Up early and out to breakfast, yum. Then off to Times Square to meet up with Mimi, Gramps and Ava. After lunch they headed to Shrek and we headed home. Bye bye New York! Lila was so sad on the way home she didn’t want to leave New York and the end to her fun vacation with mom and dad.
March 7th – Happy 40 month Birthday! Today we got up early and headed out for a good NY breakfast then off to shopping. Lila and I had a secret plan to meet up with one of Jason’s best friends from middle school at his restaurant in SOHO. Jason said he had no idea but got a little suspicious when we got to the neighborhood. Jason hadn’t seen Brad in almost 20 years so it was a big surprise! We had a great lunch with Brad and Jason had time to catch up. Then off to Lila’s big surprise…”If you throw a pig a party” play. It was in a very small theater so Lila could see everything and feel involved. She even got to meet the actors after the show, which she thought was “so cool”. Next we headed to Central Park for some play time in the HUGE new Central Park Playground with about 3 million other little kids. I had such a hard time keeping track of her on the play equipment I don’t know how parents there do it. We bought Lila a punchy balloon and spent the next hour chasing it around the park…with the 3 million other kids. Then we left to run over to the Plaza hotel to show Lila where her heroine ‘Eloise’ lives. It didn’t look much like the lobby in the books but the did have a huge painting of Eloise down one of the halls and a showcase of Eloise toys. We were all so tied after this, Lila fell asleep in the stroller and Jason and I walked the 50 blocks back downtown.
March 6th – We took our first family sleep over trip to New York City and big surprise, Lila loved the city!
We first went to White Plains for Lila’s fancy photo shoot then drove into the city and down to Tribeca to the hotel. We took an evening stroll and found a Bubby’s yummy restaurant which we all loved. If you go, be sure to get the home made potato chips.
March 1st – Big snow day!
Lila can snap her fingers!
Nice warm sunny day…pool day, lazy river, wave pool, beach, eating, drinking, hanging out with new friends, relaxing… Lila loves strawberry daiquiris.
Day trip to Telum! We rented a car and took the long road to Telum. We vistied the ruins nearby and walked the very small town, we did enjoy getting to see more of Mexico and had a yummy lunch. We’ve been staying up late and going to the evening shows at the resort. Lila likes to get on stage and participate in the kids dancing events, then comes the singing trio that usually puts her to sleep. Jason and I stay up to watch the theater part of the show…and we’re still in bed by 10!
It was still a bit chilly at the beach and the pool water was cold so we decided to take a trip into Playa del Carmen. What a cute little city. We had a great time walking around, exploring the stores and Lila even got to see a bride! We bought a bunch of souvenirs including super cute dresses for Miss Lila.
Day at the pool and the beach. But why is it chilly? Bring on the heat! We did have a great time playing in the sand, relaxing, eating and drinking….a lot!
We are leaving for Mexico and what did it do last night?? Snowed like crazy! It was still snowing when we got up at 4am and left the house at 5:30. It was a bit hard to get Lila out of bed that early but when she realized it was time to go to the airport she popped up. The plane was only a bit late to take off and we were excited to get out of the snow and cold!
Lila was amazing, as usual, on the plane and in the long lines in the Mexican customs. The first thing she wanted to do was to get her long sleeves and pants off and put a sun dress on. We took the hour bus ride to the hotel and we were so excited to arrive at the Ibersostar Riveria Maya, it is beautiful! It is a bit chilly today but there are barley any guests here and the resort is so lovely.
Time to eat !
We are leaving in two days to go to our first trip to Mexico! And our first just the three of us vacation where we are not working or visiting or something. We are doing what ever we want; like eat and drink and swim and sleep.
I am making dinner, Lila called me in the living room to “pause” the Mikey Mouse Clubhouse show. She said, “I have to go upstairs to get my high heals, Minnie loves high heals and she sings the high heals song, so I have to go get mine”.
What a great family weekend we had! Saturday the 24th we Lila went on her first trip to the Franklin Institute and she loved it. The giant heart and the huge train engine were two of her favorites but she really enjoyed trying out everything. Today we took Lila to her first play, James and the Giant Peach. The play was great and geared towards little kids with a wonderful cast of bugs. Lila was scared a few times but Elsa was there rubbing her back and kissing her shoulder, it was so cute. After the play the girls got to meet the cast and they went right up to them in their costumes. I was so surprised Lila wasn’t nervous but she wanted to meet them all, especially the ladybug. She told them she saw them on stage and she told James she really liked his teddy bear. Then we took the girls to National Mechanics for lunch. They had a great time and so did we.
Lila loves pre-school, she’s in two days a week for 6 hours. She sometimes gets upset when I drop her off but I have to drag her out of there. She has a special boyfriend, Anthony and a backup boyfriend, Jonah. She just loves these boys and can’t talk enough about them. She says the boys play firefighter and she is their helper. At home we play Barbie’s and the Prince is Anthony and the Princess is Lila Butterfly. Prince Anthony and Princess Lila Butterfly try their best to get married but mean step-sisters, wicked witches and mean fairies always get in the way.
Today Lila started dance class at school. One of the local ballet schools has a teacher come in once a week for 30 minutes to teach the girls. Lila came home today and showed us her arabesque, skipping across the floor. After I looked it up I realized she wasn’t doing an actual arabesque but it’s great she knew the word!
Yahoo, Lila! Today is the day, Barack Obama has become president! This is a great day for Americans and for the world. Your Daddy and I are so happy that you will always know that you live in a country where race and gender doesn’t dictate who can run for president and who can become president. We are so happy you knew by name and by picture both men who were running for president and that you remember you got to “vote twice”, once with mommy and once with daddy. When I asked you this evening, do you know who became presidnet today, you shouted “Barack Obama!” We are also proud of all the women in office and maybe in 40 years you will be President!
HAPPY 38th MONTH BIRTHDAY, SHATZE!
Happy 2009, Lila! You are our sweet special girl, we love you so much and are so excited to see what this year brings!
You were such a lucky girl to have a New Years Eve slumber party with Elsa, Oma and Grandad. Oma and Grandad said you girls were very good and didn’t want to be seperated from eachother so Elsa slept in your room. Elsa was tossing and turning in the too small packnplay and you called out to Oma, “she’s too noisy, I can’t sleep!”. So, Grandad held you until you fell asleep, you are a princess. This morning it was so nice to wake up with you and Elsa in the next room. Actually, you were in our bed – as usual – and we had the shared door open. We heard Elsa making funny little coughs to get our attention, we ran into see her and give her big good morning hugs. Waked up Oma and Grandad and headed down to the kitchen for banana and chocolate chip pancakes – YUM!
Party Party! Today we had our last Christmas party for 2008 at Kylie & Justin’s with the Hill clan. We had a yummy dinner and watched old videos of the Hill kids playing and with Santa and with Grandma’s. Raegan and Hunter gave Lila two amazing Charlie and Lola pop up books, Kylie and Justin gave her a beautiful tiered Hello Kitty skirt, Tinkerbell doll and more clothes Mimi and Gramps a pretty handmade necklace, a jewelry box, a Frida Kahlo book …I know I am forgetting things from everyone.
What an super fun Christmas we had! Lila was very into Santa this year and saw 5 of them to tell them what she wanted: Dollhouse, wigs and a train. She was so excited to have Oma, Grandad, Elsa, Uncle Mark & Aunt Jen over for Christmas eve dinner and presents! Elsa gave her a very special sleepover sleeping bag, a Cinderella pillow and many many other wonderful things. Oma and Grandad gave her a babydoll for the bathtub, a robe and a pink computer! I gave her my dollhouse from when I was her age — after a new exterior paint job from Grandad and an interior renovation from Mama. Oma also brought up my Barbie horse to pass on. We gave this baby many other things but I can’t remember! Santa brought her an easel, Babie Mermaid, a Karaoke tape deck and too many things I can’t remember that either. Aunt Kate surprised Lila with a hand made stuffed dolly and the very special dragonfly birthday balloon that flew away on her third birthday.
I had the Christmas tree on the roof of the car when I picked Lila up at school. She was so excited to see it, when we got to the car she exclaimed, “I don’t like it, it’s not decorated!”.
Happy 37th month birthday!
While sitting on the toilet, Lila lifts her shirt and pokes her belly button, “If you push this button it makes me laugh HAHAHAHAHA, no I mean giggle HEHEHEHEHEHE”.
Jason and Lila were making each other laugh really really hard; Lila grabbed herself and said, “That made me pee!”.
While Lila was at preschool and I was forced to stay home with Roto Rooter I took the opportunity to put up some decorations. When Lila came in the door she exclaimed, “Mommy I love how you decorated! Now we need to do some over here and a over here (pointing around the room)” quickly followed by, “can I watch Pinky Dinky Doo”. So, I’m thinking my little bossy boots is already delegating! Or has the attention span of a three year old.
Lila is such a big helper, she washes the dishes, feeds the cat, pushes the buttons on the washer/dryer and dishwasher and now she even helps me park the car. From the back seat she instructs me to, “scooch up and bit, now back and over”. When we don’t get the spot in front of the house she says, “darn it someone stole our spot!”
Now that Lila is three her favorite things are:
Broccoli and Mac and Cheese, The Doddlebops, Fancy Nancy
Here we go, party number three! All the family came over to celebrate Lila’s birthday; thank you for all the great gifts! The dress up clothes from Aunt Kylie and Uncle Justin were an instant hit.
Happy 3rd Birthday our beautiful girl! We love you so much, there are not enough “tight hugs” and “butterfly kisses” to show you how much we love you. You are such a sweet, caring, funny and snuggly little lady and perfect in every way.
We had a fun day today. Lila took Mama, Oma and Grandad to the little suburban zoo and then to Lila’s favorite restaurant for lunch… Ikea! We had the usual, Ma had the veggie thing, O & G had the meatballs and birthday girl had macaroni and cheese. Dad came home for dinner and we had left over ice cream cake from her first party. Two of Lila’s favorite gifts today were her bunk doll beds, which were mama’s, and a “beautiful” Little Mermaid gown from Oma and Grandad.
Happy pre-birthday to you, Happy pre-birthday dear Lila, we love you!
Today Lila had some of her friends come over to be “under the sea” to her Ariel Little Mermaid party.
She had a great time and was so excited to have her friends to her house. We made suncatchers and ate lots of cake. When I cut the beautiful Ariel cake Lila shouted out, “I want the boobies!”
Lila’s first Halloween party at her new school and she loved it! It has been an adjustment but Lila is getting into her new class and her new friends. She came home the other day and told me her best friend is Lala, this lovely little girl with brown curly hair. Jason and I were excited to see what would be happening this morning, Lila had been practicing songs. After a little parade the kids sat in the front of the big play room and had a concert for the parents with Halloween songs. This was Lila’s first performance and she was so excited got a bit distracted sitting with her friends but she did great and participated in all the songs.
The Halloween Celebration has begun! We had our traditional party in gym class which is always a favorite of Lila’s. After much deliberation Lila has decided to be Barbie Mariposa (Spanish for butterfly). I originally tired to pull a costume together at home but Lila was not inspired. I looked all over the internet for a “real” costume in her size, everyone was sold out. I happened upon one at the mall and by the look on Lila’s face I was the mom of the year! She looked so cute and was so happy to wear her beautiful costume.
We are SO LUCKY! The Phillies are in the World Series against Tampa Bay Rays and Daddy got us tickets! Lila loves her “Go Phillies” and we were fortunate to go to a bunch of games this year and Lila developed a love of baseball! She loves to cheer for the batters and best of all is to eat the ball park treats. The weather was perfect and Lila made it through the whole late night game. With all of our cheering the Phillies won!
….yeah! Oct 29th – The Fightin’ Phils won the Wold Series!
Lila had a day out with her daddy today and was so excited to see mommy when she got home. She ran over to me and said, “I missed my little butterfly…you are my little butterfly”.
What a sweet pea.
Lila loves to put on a bit of makeup, after applying lipstick she looked at me and said, “Do I look distinguished?”
The moms group organized a visit from the fire fighters today. Lila was ecstatic, she is very interested in Police officers and Fire fighters. Her and her friends got to climb into the trucks and spray the hose!
If Lila could wear anything everyday it would be her cheerleader costume.
She wants to wear this at all times while we are at home but surprisingly never has wanted to wear it out of the house.
After a few days with Granddad and wearing Obama T’s, Lila is full on ready to vote!! She can spy an Obama picture or sign a mile away and shouts OBAMA! Lila, Elsa and Granddad even sang about it with piano accompaniment. We had a great weekend in Va, to celebrate Mom and Dad’s 40th wedding anniversary. Lila and Elsa had so much fun running around the big yard and house together and painting pumpkins.
Happy 35th month birthday, Lila! You are almost THREE!
Our amazing new Childrens Museum opened and we went for a preview. It is amazing, they restored a building from the centennial celebration. It is huge and fun and has so many different rooms for the kids. Lila loved it all except the Alice in Wonderland exhibit, which she refused to go into. We must have scarred her in Disneyland forcing her to go on the Alice ride, now she won’t even read the pop up book with Jason!
We just got back from a wonderful trip to Chicago! Jason and Kylie had meetings so Lila, Justin and I tagged along. Lila and I had two days to explore by ourselves and the weather was perfect. We must have walked 10 miles a day and we loved it. We went to Navy Pier; the kids museum, the carousel and the gigantic ferris wheel which was a hit for both of us. The next day we walked forever to get to the aquarium (passed the big silver bean) and Lila didn’t really care we were there! But we played and checked out the fish and had a veggie hot dog from a cart outside. On the long walk back we stopped by for a swim at the lake, it was heaven. I wish we would have gone there first and spent the day, the water was warm and the sun was shining bright. There were only a few people there and with the skyline in the back, it was magical.
When everyone stopped working we had time to all play. Again we walked and walked but this time we stopped to eat and drink!
Today was the big day, first day of ballet and soccer practice. It turns out early weekend morning toddler dance classes are not so popular, so it’s a private class for Lila and Gracie. The girls had a good time if not for being a little goofy together. Soccer practice on the other hand did not go so well. Both of the girls were very tired and after kicking the ball around a few times decided whining and fussing was a better option. It was really hot on the field and overwhelming with all of the children and parents. So we left half was though and got the girls a donut. As we were leaving Lila told me she wanted to play but Gracie left! And later in the day she told me she was upset because she didn’t know how to play. Oh, my little sunshine.
We have been trying to get Lila excited to start ballet lessons at the Y. She picked out her shoes, her leotard and her tights. When we got home and tried to try them on, she was hating the tights under the leotard. Which is funny because at age 5 I used the excuse of painful tights to quit ballet.
We took off the tights and kept on the leotard dancing around her room these are a few of the funny things she said:
“I’m a showgirl and this is my name tag” (pointing to a sticker on her arm).
“I’m a ballerina who likes to kiss and hug bugs”.
This girl kills us, she is such a funny little thing.
Oh, every little kid needs a full sized mirror on the back of their door!!!
First Day of Preschool!
Lila and I had the best zoo day ever!! It was an amazingly lovely sunny day and with a little extra zoo pass we were able to ride all the special little treats. George, the camel was one of our favorites, as well as the swans boats, the draft horse, the pony, the train and lordy lordy Lila loved the zoo balloon this year! We barely looked at any animals this trip we just focused on the things we usually run by, like 1/2 hour climbing on the hippo sculpture. We ate ice cream for lunch and spent $2 feeding the goats. Oh, if we had a big yard, we’d have to get Lila a goat. She loves to feed them, groom them, talk to them, sing to them and kiss them on the head. If she didn’t tell me she wanted to be an artist the other day, I’d think she’d want to be a goat hearder.
We made a quick trip out to see Lanny and Carol in LA. Lila again loved the plane ride and the excuse to watch Jason’s iphone movies for 7 hours. She also thinks staying in hotels is super lovely. We had a little bit of time to drive through Hollywood and take Lila to Disneyland. Running into “Dora” on Hollywood Blvd was one of the highlights. Lila was pretty scared when she started to see the people dressed up as movie characters but when we explained they were just in costumes she seemed a little better. She kept wanting to tell everyone how she saw Dora, but “it wasn’t really Dora, just someone dressed up”.
We had a few hours before we got on the plane to check out Disneyland. Lila loved it until we got her on the first ride, Pinocchio. It was a lot darker and much more intimidating than I had remembered, when we gt off we tried to convince her how fun it was. We were able to get her on the Alice in Wonderland ride, as she loves the book and the story of Alice. Again, the ride was darker and more sinister than we had remembered. The scariness of these two rides made little Lila a bit more intimidated of everything else. We didn’t make it on more rides but we went though Minnie and Mickies houses and through the house of tomorrow. She did warm up to these and did end up having a fun time. We think we’ll wait a few more years before we take her to Disneyworld.
We had a super fun family day today. We drove down to the Tyler Arboretum and spent the day exploring the tree houses and the gardens. Lila especially loved the frog sculptures and the bells.
Thank you Bob, Jackie, Sam & Ben for a great picnic!
Beauty Beauty Beauty
Great Grandma and Great Grandpa came to town!
This is the first time Lila has met them and we had a party at Kylie and Justin’s
and brunch at National Mechanics. Thanks for flying out to see us!
Happy 33rd month of life, Lila Pearl!
Happy Birthday Ali!
We all went downtown for Ali’s Mexican birthday bash, this was Lila’s first international party
and she had a blast. She danced all night to the Mariachi DJ and tried her hand at the pinata.
Lila got this monkey mask from the playroom at the YMCA. Lila and I thought it was so funny that she was wearing it while I had her in the stroller going to meet Jason on the street. I forgot for a while ad wondered why people in cars were giving us funny looks. Jason got a kick out of the mask as did everyone at the restaurant
Another fun day at the beach! Lila and I went to meet up with Gail, Tom and Baby Sophie at the family beach house — Thank you Mr & Mrs B! Baby Sophie is 6 months now and such a sweet sweet cutie and even spent the day on the beach with us. Tom’s nieces were so good to Lila and included her in playing, Tom taught Lila how to skim board and Mrs B helped her to jump the waves! We feel so lucky to have such nice friends.
Good Bye Old Please Touch Museum! Lila and I took our last trip to the museum before it moves to the new super cool location in Memorial Hall. Lila had requested all week that we make a trip to the “museum with the carts” — the grocery shopping area is her favorite. Well, the old museum has seen better days and a lot of the installations have been removed but Lila didn’t seem to mind.
We had a great weekend with our wonderful guests! Thank you Martin, Annie and Aidan for coming and staying with us. Lila had such a fun time with her boyfriend at the zoo, at National Mechanics and most of all running around our house. I have never seen her so wild and laughing so hard with another child. Aidan is such a sweet boy and showed her how to keep moving.
When Jason was leaving today for work: “I don’t want one of Daddy’s kisses, I have enough!”
Lila was looking so beautiful in one of her dresses this afternoon and I looked at her and said how pretty she is. She looked back at me and said, “It doesn’t matter, you just have to love me.”
Daddy and Aunt Kylie took the day off to spend the day at the beach with Mama and Lila Pearl.
It was a dreary day but we had a great time running from the waves, making sand castles (for Lila to smash) and running the rides on the Ocean City boardwalk. Little Lila loves the ocean and with her bathing suit on says she looks like a surf border. She wants to spend all of her time in the water and it has been freezing. She loved the boardwalk rides too, but the twirly ones are not her favorite. She likes driving the cars and even took her first spin on the bumper cars. It was a little kid bumper car ride that is probably for 4 year olds and up but because Miss Lila is so tall she got a chance to ride too. It was hard giving her driving instructions from the side lines but she did move in a few circles!
When we got home today Lila was looking at a kids magazine and saw a picture of kids hopscotching.
I asked her if she knew what it was called and she said “butterscotch”. What a sweetie
Happy 32nd Month Birthday, my Sweet!
Fun fun super fun beach day with our best buddies – we love summer!
Oh, today is a sad day. It is Lila’s last day at school. She has been going there since she was 7 months old and has been with the same kids, her friends. Lila and I decided we would take the summer to party and spend 7 days a week together…for the first time! We are very excited and have our pool, zoo and YMCA memberships ready to roll. Lila had a great time at school and learned so much, she already seems to be a good student. Her teachers said she was always a good girl and how smart she is.
Happy 31st Month Birthday!!
Well, it is official Lila can read her numbers 1-9 and her letters A-Z. She can also read “Lila”, “Mommy”, “Daddy” and “Oma”. She also knows her left and her right, her birthday and what street she lives on.
Lila said the sweetest thing tonight when I was saying her prayers. I said bless especially Lila and she said, “and especially Daddy and especially Mommy”. What a sweet little pea.
Have I ever mentioned Lila remembers everything. She remembers who gave her every toy and piece of clothing she has. If I bought it she knows exactly which store it came from. She recognized a shirt Elsa was wearing from a picture she saw once and commented to Jen that Elsa was wearing the shirt when she was blowing bubbles. She knows which way to turn to get to Gracie’s house from our house.
At school today Tia, Lila’s teacher, told me she was playing with the little house and said, “I am scrapping paint”. She is going to be just like her Mama. She has told me in the past that I should go to school and she will go work on Auntie Sheila’s house.
…..Sheila’s kitchen is done!
Dutch Wonderland!! I think was the best day of Lila’s life, it was certainly one of the best family days we have ever had. It was a bright sunny warm day, no lines and lots of fun.. I haven’t been to the park since I was a small child and only really remember it from pictures, so in my head it is still 1978. The park was beautiful and big and clean and the rides were great and geared to toddlers and preschool. Since we went to San Francisco Lila has become daring with rides, last summer we couldn’t get her on one even with me. We started out with the train ride around the park then the roller coaster, the big trucks, the little trucks the old timey car. She was scared to death once the roller coaster got moving, Jason was sitting in front of us and able to take some really funny pictures. There were only a couple of rides she didn’t want to try and even when she was scared on the ride she didn’t cry or fuss once she was off. Jason also treated her to an extra special pony ride which included a cowgirl hat! This is her second pony ride and the first for her daddy to see, she was so excited and happy. She saw the remote control cars across from the pony ride and kept asking to try them out. “When we get done on the trucks, then we can do the cars”? “Can we do the cars now”? Such a funny thing for a 2 year old to want to do.
We saw two shows, Storybook and Thomas the Tank Engine, Lila ran up to the front to dance with the other children she even got a hug from the actress/singer girl! There is a Dutch Wonderland Princess and Dragon too. Lila kept saying she would hug them and shake their hands when she saw them. She did get a big hug from the princess but ran from the dragon. One of her favorite displays was the Amish farm house with the Amish man and woman statue on the porch. She stood with them and told them funny stories until we pulled her away to get ice cream.
After we did all the rides we took her into the little water park area. Oh boy, we could have been there all day, it was magical how happy she was. She checked out all the slides, spouts and pumps. She got shot in the eye with spouts and was laughing so hard. She could has gone down the water slide 100 times but the day was getting late and we needed to hit the road. If we would have realized what a great time it was for her we would have stayed the night and went back the next day.
Happy Memorial Day! Granddad, Oma, Elsa and Uncle Mark came over to spend the day and check out the local parade. The weather was perfect for pool time and lunch outside.
Yeah! Annual picnic at Uncle Eric and Aunt Amy’s farm. Lila has been looking forward to this for weeks. All the Feilmeiers were there, the weather was great and Lila was in heaven. She spent the day running around the yard, in and out of the pool, on the trampoline, chasing the animals and naked naked naked! Abby, the dog even hared her pool with the girls for a few hours then she had it and needed to take a dip.
Some funny things Lila says:
Hey Oh, Merry Christmas! (This comes at any point in one of her long random stories or conversations on the “phone” with…anyone.)
Hey there, Mister.
Ice cream, ice cream we all scream for ice cream. Broccoli, broccoli we all scream for broccoli!
JAS! (When Daddy comes home or when she is trying to get his attention)
“What’s that schmel?” – when she smells anything stinky
“What’s that schmel, mulch”? (One day we were heading into Ikea and they were spreading very stinky mulch. Lila could barely make it into the store because it was so stinky. So now she can smell manure a mile away)
Daddy gets to be the teacher to night (when jason reads to us)
I am being patient
Oh, no! It’s the last day of Miss Jackie’s gym class…boo hiss. Lila has been in this class since she was 10 months old, she is one of the oldest kids now and has out grown the class. Luckily Miss Jackie has a class for 3+ in the fall! This has been an amazing class for Lila, she loves to do tumbles, walk the beam, do pull ups on the parallel bar. Miss Jackie has fun songs and activities for the class too, Lila likes to be right up next to Miss Jackie when she’s leading the songs…too cute! We have met so many nice new friends too.
Mom and Granddad reworked the back patio with Lila as Foreman. We love the new flat patio
and Lila think Jason loves his new kitchen — since his grill is on the patio.
What is that Lila? Are you a plumber?
Happy 2 1/2 Year Birthday Lila Pearl!
When did you get so big ?? So smart?? So pretty??
Lila is 40″ tall and 36 lbs. If anyone is counting that is the size of an average four year old.
Happy Spring. We have had a bunch of days lately that have been in the high 70′s and we are all loving it. Lots of trips to the park and the zoo and “little walks” around the block. Last weekend we wend and bought a lot of flowers for the garden and Lila helped mommy planted them. She also pulled out the pool and went skinny dipping.
I keep forgetting to write some of the funny things Miss Lila says. She is quite the story teller and will go on and on bringing in everything she seems in the room or anyone she is thinking about into the story. She has a few imaginary friends, Ringman, Jalick, Minska and Ninska — or something like that. Ringman and Jalick are the favorites and they are always getting into hijinx and trouble. Sometimes they are boys sometimes girls, they have lots of different hair colors and are small and tall. They seem to follow us to most places and they work and “Mashel Canicks” (National Mechanics). The friends freaked us out a bit in the beginning but now they are part of the family.
I’ve told Lila about Misty, my dog growing up, and she knows that she died. The other day out of the blue she asked me if I missed Misty because she died. I said yes and she told me, “don’t be sad mommy because now you have a kitty”. I couldn’t believe it, what a smarty. She also tells me, “don’t worry mommy” and “I just want to talk”. A few nights ago I was trying to put her to bed and she was so tired because she skipped her nap to play in the pool. She just wanted to run in circles in her room when I grabbed her up to rock her she cried and yelled over and over, “I just want to tell jokes!”.
Happy 29 month Birthday Lila Pearl!
We went to San Francisco! Jason had a meeting in SF so Lila and I tagged along. We were so excited to see our good friends Anthony and Jenny, Ant even gave us a tour of Sausalito and the SF neighborhoods. Lila loved the Golden Gate Bridge and the sea lions on Fishermans Warf. Jason and I liked all the neighborhoods and the cool houses. As a family we LOVED our drive down Route 1 to Santa Cruise. Lila enjoyed the beach so much she peed….right in the beach and in her jeans; then spent a couple of hours running circles. Other exciting news from Lila is she decided she is brave enough to ride the horses on the carousel. Until this trip she would only ride on the carousel benches or tea cups.
Thank you Anthony and Jenny for a great dinner, we were so excited to see you!
Happy Birthday to Mommy! Jason and Lila took the day off to hang out with Mom on her birthday, we went to see the Frida Kahlo exhibit at the museum of art, Lila can spot Frida a mile away, the back of a Septa bus or San Francisco – it is amazing. We got our pictures taken with “Rocky”, went out to lunch and had yummy ice cream cake. Thanks guys!
Lila had her first sleepover with her cousin Elsa. The girls had a great time lots of playing, yoga and books. Elsa was a total angel and went to bed perfectly for Uncle Jason. Lila is ready for her next sleepover soon, but she wants to go to Elsa’s house….as long as Daddy comes along.
Happy 28 month Birthday Lila Pearl!
They told me it was a work trip for a new jewelry client, Maui Divers, but I knew it was really a beach vacation and they left me home. Luckily for me Oma and Granddad came to take care of me and I had so much fun! More on that later when Mom gets the pictures from Oma.
Here is what Mom said they did while they were away (without me):
Feb 13th – Can you believe we finally have sleet/snow/wintery mix and it’s the night before we leave on an early morning flight to Dallas than on to O’ahu. So of course the flight was delayed and I had gotten up at 4 to check on the flight. We made the connection to O’ahu and the flights were long but smooth. We couldn’t believe they don’t give you food on the airplanes – even long flights – they make you buy junky sandwiches and cookies. We landed in Honolulu and the sun was shining and it was beautiful. We rented Chevy Trail Blazers and I was the happy driver on one of them. Driving to the Outrigger Waikiki was easy but long with the run hour traffic. The hotel is lovely and we had city views but we could still see the ocean. We all met for dinner downstairs, next to the beach and pool. We are all happy to be off the plane and in Hawaii! I didn’t really like Waikiki it is over developed with high end shops. Reminded us of how Vegas is now. Not beachy at all just too much consumerism, gross.
Feb 14th – Happy Valentines Day. All the Weblincers had store tours with Maui Divers today but Jason did have time for breakfast. We walked along Kalakaua Ave along the beach and had breakfast at…..McDonalds! But as you can guess Hawaiian McD’s is nice and give you fresh Pineapple. We took our food to go and ate at picnic benches at Kuhiobeach Park, along with some tourists and drifters. The weather was so perfect and amazing to be outside next to the beach. Jason left for the day with the Webincers for tour Maui Divers stores and factory. Justin, Danielle and I dropped Kate off on Hotel Street in Honoulu, the former red light, tattoo and bar nighborhood, now Chinatown, to take some pictures for a tattoo shoot she was doing. Then the three of us drove out the Pali Highway to check out the Nu’uanu Pali lookout then contiuned on the Kailua Road to cross the narrow part of the island to reach Kailua, a really cute neighborhoodie surf town and Kailua Beach a beautiful quite wide family beach. It was too cool to get in the water but the waves were nice and calm on the this side. We left to pick up Kate and met her new friend in a bar on Hotel Street and stayed while Kate did three songs of Karaoke. The Weblincers were still busy so we drove out of Honolulu on the Lunalilo Freeway through the multi million dollar houses in Kahala and onto the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve and saw out first whale, the first of many on the trip. We finished up at the Halona Blowhole, where we saw a tiny plume of water. Apparently there is a lava tube that sucks in the water and spits it out above the rocks. Not as impressive as the geysers we saw in Iceland. Headed back and picked up the Weblincers for a late dinner at the Hula Grill in the Outrigger.
Feb 15th – Jason is playing hooky from work, yeah! Justin, Danielle and the two of us drove North/West to Pearl Harbor. The wait was really long to go out to the USS Arizona but we did spend some time on the shore. Then all the way up the 99 to the North Shore, surfers paradise. Spend a few hours at Waialua Bay, Waimea Bay and Sunset Beach the waves were huge so we just watched the water, body boarders and surfers. We loved it up there on the North Shore, everything seemed so relaxed and cool houses with the beach as their backyard. We even found a purple house for Lila! We are not sure why we don’t live here…?? Tonight was Kylie’s birthday so we headed back and went to Senor Frogs for a wild dinner, that turned out to be a tame dinner. Then a few of us went back to Coconut Willies in the International Market and we were the youngest people there by 40 years so we hit the dance floor for a song then hit it out of there.
Feb 16th – 10 am flight to Maui, bye bye O’ahu! Picked up our car and headed to the Royal Lahania Resort. We had read ahead the cottage rooms were gross and were going to be torn down in the next couple of months to make room for condos. We didn’t expect how bad they were going to be, luckily with a bunch of complaining we all got moved to the newly renovated hotel…..for tomorrow night, ggrrrrr. So, we spent the rest of the day relaxing on the beach, aaahhhhh. Went to the cute beach town of Lahaina for dinner and found Jason’s favorite double burger, he’ll probably have us go back to Hawaii just to have one in a few months.
Feb 17th – Road to Hana….oh my. We didn’t believe the guide book that it would really take all day to drive 40 miles to Hana and then back. Well, it did. I was the driver (I would probably have gotten car sick after a half an hour if I wasn’t) Jason, Kylie and Justin were my victims. The road was crazy curvey but had great sightseeing stops all along the way — Twin Falls, Wailua Overlook, Ohe’o Gulch and Waianapanapa Sate park. The falls and water ways were pretty dry but Justin did go swimming in some very cold water at the Gulch, the rest of us were not so brave. We stopped at Waianapanapa park to relax on the black sand beach before the long long ride back. It was already late in the day and the water was cold but the black sand was crazy. We stopped in the super cute town of Paia for dinner and almost fell asleep before we got home.
Feb 18th – Day on the Ka’anapali Beach, jumping off Black Rock. Finally day of relaxing and reading and swimming and eating and snorkeling. The day was perfect and the water was nice. Went snorkeling and saw bunch of pretty fish and a big turtle. The highlight of the day was watching some of the weblincers jumping into the water off Black Rock. Back to Lahaina with the whole group for our final Hawaiian dinner.
Feb 19th – Jason and I took our last day to drive up Haleakala Volcano. It was a clear sunny day so we were able to see all across the island. As we were driving down the clouds started rolling in below us, it was an amazing site. It was a fun day of driving and seeing more of Maui. Jason and I finished the day with stopping at a great restaurant in Paia for lunch and drinks. Bye bye Hawaii!
Happy New Year!
Lila spent New Years Eve with Oma and Granddad and even made some mayhem on the porch!
We had a good start to the New Year, Lila is growing nonstop and is as smart as a whip.
She is really into pretending and making up stories, especially with her many baby dolls. Her favorites being Clementine, Virginia, Baby Lila, Super Babies and Ruby. She has begun to count objects and is beginning to learn her letters. She has told me that is not a baby (not even my baby) and she is a big girl. Which is kind of sad for mommy. She told me she is going to marry Jason and me and we are all going to wear crowns, tonight she told Oma she’d do the same with Oma and Granddad. She is really getting a funny sense of humor and she gets it. She is shortening names and phrases; instead of her usual “Hold me” she now says, “Holdge” and sometimes calls Granddad “Grand”. She likes to call her Daddy Jason and thinks it’s so funny that Gracie’s mom and dad are Lisa and Jason too. She says, “two names!”
Lila loves to go out to dinner and now has been asking the waiters for macaroni. She is still the bell of the ball when we go to National Mechanics and loves the attention. I just love our little lady, we are so lucky.
What an amazing fun month!
We were so busy this month and Lila had a great time getting ready for Santa’s arrival.
Lila wasn’t sure about sitting on his lap at the mall so Mamma jumped in for the picture.
Then when we saw him and Mrs. Claus at the YMCA Daddy jumped in the picture to make Lila feel a bit more comfortable. She didn’t tell Santa what she wanted for Christmas but she did tell me she wanted a Pink Baby, a Purple Car and presents. We made and decorated cookies with Augie and Gracie, Mimi and Gramps made our first gingerbread house with Lila and Oma and Granddad took Lila and Elsa to the Please Touch Museum!
Hill family Christmas at Kylie and Justins was super fun this year! Lila and Ave couldn’t wait to ripe into all the presents. Mimi and Gramps found a talking dolly named “Lila”! Lila and Ava got one and they love their new babies!
Lila was a bit scared about coming downstairs, knowing that Santa might have come and might still be here. So Mom went down first and checked out then Dad, Oma and Granddad came down with Lila. Santa left her a kitchen, pots, pans and food. A yoga dvd and book, bouncy ball, purple car and Santa mouse left her toothbrushes.
Mark, Jenn and Elsa came over in the afternoon and we all got wonderful presents.
Oma and Granddad, Mamma, Daddy and Lila went to church and saw the children’s pageant
….oh and Santa came to give a gift to Jesus in the manger.
We told Lila Santa was coming tonight and she became really scared and said “no no”. We told her it was okay and Santa is nice and kind. She said he’s “make believe” !!!
We had a fun Feilmeier family Christmas at Steve and Linda’s house. Lila had a great time playing with cousin Elsa and seeing her family.
Lila went to her first ballet! We took a Hill family trip to see the Nutcracker at the Academy of Music. We had good seats and Lila was smitten with the beautiful costumes and the delicate dancers. She did a great job sitting still for the first half but had little trouble after intermission and we had to leave a bit early. She loved sitting next to her cousin Cooper and snuggling up to him. She did announce loudly that, “I have to pee” and when we can back in “I peed!” She is doing really well with potty training but I think sometimes she uses to potty as an excuse to do something different.
Lila is still talking about ballerinas and can show you some leg and arms moves and she even sang us a “ballet ballet ballet” song.
Our little lady had her Holiday pageant, she sang and danced with her class (Poohs). After the show we had a lunch social and the kids played and then Santa came. This being the third time Lila saw Santa we did get her to sit on his lap for a few seconds.
The weekend after Thanksgiving Jason, Lisa and Lila went Christmas tree hunting in Phoenixville and found a pretty Fir and Lila got to go on her first hay ride! She thought it was great and loved to bounce around on the bails of hay. When we got home and put the tree up Lila had her own set of ornaments to hang and was a perfectionist about the placement. She continued to rearrange them the whole time we had the tree up.
Happy 2nd Birthday Elsa!
Elsa had a super fun party at her house with lots of family and friends.
Lila tried to help Elsa open her gifts and the girls had a few squabbles
Thanks for a great party, Elsa.
Lila Pearl is the sweetest girl we know. She has started telling us she loves us and gives us the best hugs and kisses. “I love you Mommy”, “I love you Daddy”, “I love you Avery, so much”. She tells her grandparents and cousins how much she loves them and also tells me who she loves, “I love Augie and Gracie”. She really understands what love is. One day going into the market, she hugged me and said, “Mommy, I love you so much”, that was the best thing I have ever heard.
Lila is getting very independent with daily activities. She dresses and undresses herself, she uses the potty, she helps me unload the dishwasher, get things out of the fridge and feds Avery.
Her new tag line is, “what you doin’?” She says it all the time and to everyone, it is hysterical!
She’ll pretend to talk on the phone and say, “Hi Uncle Darren, what you doin’?”.
HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY LILA PEARL!
Mommy and Daddy love you SO much, we are so lucky you are our baby girl!
Lila spent her birthday playing with her friends during the day.
Mommy brought cupcakes to share with Lila’s class mates and they had a fun time eating them, yummy.
A music man came to school too and Mommy stayed to watch and sing and dance with Lila.
In the evening Daddy came home early and we had dinner and cake and opened presents.
Lila got her first dollhouse!
Happy 2nd Birthday Party Lila!
Lila had a great 2nd birthday Rockin Revival party. Thank you Lee for making the coolest invite ever!
Lots of her friends came to celebrate, Gracie, Augie, Elsa, Roxie, Reese, Maura, Cade, Frida, Benji, Olivia, Cooper, Ava and Audrey plus lots of grown up friends.
Lila got so many nice gifts and she is having blast playing with everything, she knows she’s a lucky lady.
Thank you to everyone who came for making it a great day!
Thanks mom and dad for cleaning, cooking, baking and keeping Lila out of my hair.
We hit the Halloween circuit this year! Gym class dress up, YMCA, school fest, Linvilla Orchards and the park trick or treat. Lila was a rock and roll princess, the costume started as a rocker girl but she said she wanted to be a princess. We all were happy in the end. Oma and Grand-dad came up for the week to celebrate Halloween and Grand-dad’s birthday. Grand-dad treated Elsa and Lila to their first pony ride at the orchard, both girls loved it and weren’t scared of the ponies.
She is now talking in basic 5 and 6 word sentences, it is amazing what she tells us.
We now have full conversations with her. Last night (Oct 16) I asked her what she wanted for dinner and she said pancakes. Okay! We never have pancakes for dinner but being tired from painting all day I was happy to make them. She was gobbling them up and I commented I wish we had fresh fruit to add to the pancakes and Lila said, “go to the grocery store?” I laughed so hard I almost fell off my chair. I tell her all the time how she knows all the words and she smiles and laughs at me. She is even learning how to use different voices and gestures to ask for things. She has a funny way of tilting her head to the side and very quietly saying, “Sesame?” When she wants to watch Sesame Street and she knows it isn’t a time when I want her too. Don’t worry, I don’t give in I just give her a hug and she yells “No Mommy NO, no hugging Lila!”
Lila and mom were feeling cooped up so we took a trip to the Please Touch Museum…..just to spread our germs around. We had a great time and could have stayed all day. Lila is such a good mommy to the baby dolls and spent a lot of time “grocery shopping”.
Poor Lila has the Croop. I knew right away, she sounded as they say a seal! Two days of steroids and the bad cough was gone but the cold will linger on…
Happy 23rd Birthday Lila Pearl!
We love you more and more every minute.
Lila went to her 3rd and 4th Phillies Game! And these were playoff games! How lucky can a girl be? She sat through all the innings and cheered “Go Phillies!” She got to eat hotdogs, water ice, ice cream and beer (just kidding). Thanks Weblinc for inviting us, we had a great time even though the Phills lost both games. (update: they lost all the games and are out of the playoffs – boo hiss).
Lila and her mom drove to Richmond to visit Oma and Grandad. As usual we had a great time! The weather was great so we played outside, went to Cary Street, went to the zoo and chased the cat. Granddad brought down Brownie the horse and the red wagon. Lila was great in the car both ways for her first road trip alone with mommy. She rocks, she is our best girl…and she knows it. At the zoo Lila held the treats for the goats and fed them all on her own.
We sang most of the way in the car since Lila didn’t want to sleep fearing mommy wold be lonely. Her favorite songs are You are my sunshine, row row row your boat, itsy bitsy spider, old macdonald.
We had a great vacation at Rehoboth Beach Delaware, thanks Oma and Granddad! Check out all the new pics.
We stayed at a cool house on an inlet just a block from the beach and a short bike or car ride to the boardwalk.
We had perfect weather and spent everyday on the beach and then hit the pool in the afternoon.
Lila and Elsa played great together and were such good girls and had a blast too!
We saw a family of 25+ dolphins playing right next to the beach and Lila was so excited, we told her how special it was. Jason, me and Lila rented bikes and had a great time exploring. We also celebrated Granddad’s retirement with a cook out luau and ice cream cake.
Lila and Elsa rode the the merry-go-round and the big trucks, Lila was very scared but Elsa was ready for more.
Lila continues to love to swim but it took her a while to want to get her feet wet in the ocean.
Our Lila is such a little talker, she seems to remember everything we tell her. She’s a joker and a prankster and has the sweetest heart of all.
Happy 21st month Birthday Lila!
What a fire cracker we have on our hands!
This girl knows everything… and will tell you all about it.
She is perfecting the ABC song and loves when you join in singing it with her over and over and over. She is almost able to count to 10 and is working on her colors. Orange seems to be her favorite but yellow is her favorite to say or “blueyellow” on some occasions.
She’ll hold her hand out for you to shake and says, “nice to meet you”.
She likes to call Daddy in the morning, “wake up daddy!”, “come on”, “pull you”.
When she wants picked up she says, “hold you”.
Her best friends are her cousin Elsa, and neighbors Gracie and Augie.
Lila is a performer, she loves to sing along to music on the radio, with you or makes up her own songs. She frequently stands on the porch and sings to me and Jason using her hands to help express herself. She continues to love to dance and “rock out” to all types of music. Wheels on the Bus and ABC are her favorite songs and she know lots of the words!
Lila went to her first German festival at the Sommerfest at the Lancaster Liederkranz. She had a great time hanging out with the Feilmeier’s and her friend Ava Mai who showed her the ropes of the party.
Lila knows so many words now and is talking in a lot of two and three word sentences. She talks about what things are Lila’s, Mommy’s and Daddy’s and likes to name body parts on her dollys and barbies.
Lila peed in the potty tonight for the first time! Go Lila!
Lila still signs a few words but always says the word too, milk, more, please. She just started saying cookies instead of coco. I’ve tried to write down all the words she knows, of course it’s impossible, but it’s somewhere around 90-100. These are words she says on her own and not with prompting from us (see “words” in “about me” on the right). Today I was counting with her and I got to four and she said five, I couldn’t believe it! We gave each other a high five. She loves to climb on the kitchen chairs and says “sit sit”, this is how she wants eat but she can barely see over the table.
She is a sweet-pea and will give you a kiss on the cheek with a real swack too. She loves to go for walks and hold hands or ride on Daddy’s shoulders.
Last day of gym class until the fall…boo. Lila has progressed so far since we started gym class last September. She loves to tumble, sing in circle time, hang from the rings, but mostly she just loves to run around with the other kids. She hates getting tossed in the parachute but she likes to help toss up the other kids! We’ve met so many great moms and kids, it’s a great class!
Lila and I have been having a great time in the garden. Our flowers are looking great this year and our $3 dogwood is very tall now and we got our first set of flowers! Lila love to weed the beds and throw the “trash” in the can, sometimes I have to catch her because she sometimes weeds the heads of the flowers..oh my.
We had a great trip to visit Mimi and Gramps, it was great fun. Lila helped Mimi pick dandelions and we went to a petting zoo with lots of animals. Lila loves to hang out with her cousins Cooper and Ava and she says their names perfectly.
LILA, YOU’RE 1 1/2 !!
27lbs 3oz 35 1/4″…long and lovely.
The doctor said Lila is very smart and laughs at all of her funny sayings. She is such a good girl at the doctor and is a bit of a showoff.
Our favorite Lila-isms:
“Hello” is he name for phone and she loves to talk on them, well, she loves to hold them and pretend like she’s talking. She loves to point to the phone and say, “Hello Oma”, meaning she wants to call Oma. Almost everything has the potential to be transformed into a Hello by just holding to the side of her head.
When I ask her who her best friend is she says, “My Daddy”.
At the end of last month she said her first three word sentence, “Please more cookies”.
When Lila leaves you she says, “See ya”!
She loves her cat Avery who she calls, “Mou” short for meow.
Cheese! When you take her picture or when she see anything that looks like a camera
We had a busy busy month.
Easter was nice with the Brumbaugh family together, Lila and Elsa had fun with their loot.
Lila and Lisa went to Richmond for a week and a half, we saw the neighborhood cows, went the the Richmond Children’s Museum and Jamestown. Lila had the most fun running around Oma and Granddad’s house and chasing Marco the cat.
I tried to write down all the words Lila says on her own and I think we are up to 70!
She also has started saying two and three word sentences, our favorite “please more cookies”! She also says funny things like, “no way” and “see ya”. She is still doing sign language but is saying the words as she signs. She will only feed herself these days and will only wear a bib if she in the mood….so things have gotten really messy again.
We joined a neighborhood mom’s group and the Philadelphia zoo, we are hoping to havea great summer.
Lila went to her first Easter Egg Hunt in the park by our house. She hunted for candy and plastic eggs and with a little help from mama and dada she found a special egg….and won a bike!
She was very excited and even got her picture taken with the new bike and the Easter Bunny for the local paper. Well, she didn’t really get what she was supposed to do with a big kid bike and she was scared of the bunny but mama and dada had fun!
Happy St Patricks Day
We took Lila to the Bahamas for her Mimi’s 60th b-day. She had a great time and was a perfect angel the whole time. This was Lila’s first palne trip and she was a very good girl. We even had a 5 hour delay going there and she thought running around the airport for 2 1/2 hours was part of the vacation fun.
We had a great time on the beach and in the pool. The weather was chilly for a few days but it kept us from getting sunburned! Lila had such a great time with her aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Check out March 2007 for more pictures!
HAPPY 16 MONTH BIRTHDAY!
Lila had her 16th month well visit tonight and she’s doing great! The doctor thinks she is very smart. Well, of course she is! She’s still long and lean. She’s in the 80% for weight at 25 lbs 5 oz and off the top of the charts for height at 33 3/4″. Well, we think that’s how long she is because she didn’t trust the nurse and wiggled and cried when she was trying to measure her.
Lila has a new love, “Maow”, her black and white kitty stuffed animal from Oma. She needs to have under her arm when she sleeps. She knows kitties say Meow, so to avoid confusion she named her Maow. She says so many words now we can’t keep up. Ouch, up, down, knee, elbow, hat, Dada, Mama, baby, car eye, nose, toes….
NEW BABY UPDATE:
My cousins Jeff and Melody had a baby!
James Daniel was born Tuesday, 2/6 at 1:17pm.
He weighed 8lbs. 6oz. and was 20 3/4 in. long.
Isn’t he gorgeous ?!
It is freezing! Lila and I didn’t make it outside today because it was only 15 degees so we decided to paint! Lila is a good artist, she is going through an abstract phase with lots of color. It is really hard for her not to try to taste the paint but she only tries a bit before I catch her.
She has four teeth on the top and four on the bottom. Here favorite toys are Teddy, her stuffed bear from Paul, and Clementine her doll baby. She calls Teddy by name and carries him around the bedrooms upstairs. Clementine is a hard name for her to say so she calls her “baby”, but if I ask her where is Clementine? She’ll go into the living room to find her and brings her back to me! She is a good momma, she pats her doll baby and checks her pants to make sure she is clean. Lila likes to tease her Daddy when he asks for a kiss she’ll give him one of her toys to kiss instead. When I ask her to say “mommy” she says, “no”. What a stinker!
Snow day! I took Lila out to play in the 3 inches of snow and she thought it was great until she fell face forward and burrrrr! She did keep playing while I brushed off the car but we had cold hands and didn’t last very long.
Lila has some new words. elbow, ouch, book, school, baby, cookie.
Tonight she was reading one of her flip up books and came to the picture of the little girls back. Lila said “back” and then put her hands on her back! Then she came over to me and put her hands on my back and said “back” again. She is SO smart!
Lila and I took a week long vacation to Virginia. The weather was in the high 60′s and mid 70′s it was wonderful. We relaxed and Lila ran around Oma and Granddad’s house like a nut and had a great time. Jason came down on Friday and we went to the Richmond zoo, Lila met a goat! We spent a lot of time dancing on the sun porch and Granddad taught her how to really “boogie”. Oma taught her to say ball and point to the ornaments on the tree, she is also teaching her the vowels!
Lila is talking up a storm.. shoe, apple, byebye, ball, baby. She even surprised us and pointed to a small cut on her hand when I asked where her boo boo was. How does she know this stuff? She loves to give kisses (check out the pucker pictures). She says “bye bye” and then comes over for a kiss. We are SO lucky!
Lila started a new class at school today, the Pooh room. She is still with her old friends, they all graduated up. They expect so much out of the babies already. They take naps together on mats and they have lunch together around a table and feed themselves! Lila is such a good eater, I’m not worried about that. But I think she might disrupt nap time
Lila, Elsa, Mark, Oma, Granddad, Daddy and I had an outing to the Camden Aquarium. We had a great time. Lila pet a starfish and the girls got up close to a HUGE hippo.
We had a fantastic Christmas and Lila enjoyed all of the partying. Mimi, Gramps, Kylie, Justin, Cooper and Ava spent Saturday with us. We played at the house, went to lunch then played in the park. We all had a great time. Sunday, Christmas eve, we spent the day cooking and then Oma, Granddad, Mark, Jenn and Elsa came over for dinner and gifts. The girls had so much fun playing and opening their presents. Monday, Christmas day, Lila opened gifts from Santa and then we went to Cooper and Ava’s house for a bit. Then onto Lancaster to see the rest of mommy’s side of the family and more gifts! Monday we relaxed on the morning, then went to Kylie’s and Justin’s to see everyone, Raegan and Hunter were there too! And more and more gifts, Lila really got into unwrapping presents and she was so excited I think her head almost popped off!
Thank you to everyone for all the wonderful gifts and great parties! Lila had a super Christmas, spending time with her family.
Lila was in her first Christmas Pageant! She was an angel, but isn’t she always. Jason and I knew Lila’s school was having a little holiday party and sing along but to our surprise all the kids were on stage and costumed. All of the age groups sang Christmas songs and some did dances. Lila sat on the side with the other toddlers, all behaved very well. She was wearing a white fluffy dress and wings. I didn’t know about the angel roll, or I wouldn’t have put her in a red shirt and striped tights! But she looked so cute and was so excited to see her Daddy taking pictures and video of her off stage. There was a little incident avoided with Lila going after the baby Jesus doll in the manger (see picture), but her teacher caught her in time. Santa came at the end but she was too scared to sit in his lap. This is the third time she has seen Santa already this year but we’re still not sure if she’s been good.
Lila and Elsa went to their first concert! The four of us took the girls to a kids show at the World Cafe in West Philly the band that day was They Might Be Giants. This is a favorite band of Lila and Elsa’s, they have 2 kids albums out now and one on the way. The kid music is a favorite of ours too. We had a great time, especially Elsa who was really dancing and grooving to the music. Lila, surprisingly, was kind of timid and wasn’t into dancing that day. But we all had a great time!
13 months old
Lila made the local newspaper!
Lila is such a little firecracker everything she does she does with excitment and enthusiasm. She really enjoys gym class and starts laughing and dancing right when we arrive. She has gotten really good at the warm up and her tumbling. She can hold her own with the two and three year olds and is almost as active as they are!
This weekend I made breaded chicken for Jason and Lila, she usually likes ketchup but we were out so we tried bbq sauce, she loves it! She even liked it with her mashed potatos. Tonight for dinner we had baked tofu, carrots and peas and she gobbled them up in minutes, she is such a good eater.
Lila has had such a good time playing in the park this fall, the weather has been great. We also have been coloring and playing in her new little house but above all she loves to read. Jason and I take turns sitting in a chair in her room, Lila looks at her book selection and carries them over to us one by one. She seems to look at the spines to see what she’s in the mood for, it’s really funny.
Jason taught Lila to “Moooo”, when asked “what does a cow say?”
Lila had a good 1 year check up at the doctor. The doctor was impressed with what Lila already knows, her walking and her friendliness. She contiunes to be tall and lean, 22lbs 10oz & 1 foot 7 3/4″ (31 3/4″)
HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY, ELSA!
HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY, LILA PEARL!!!
WE LOVE YOU !!!
Lila had a fantastic birthday party, she was in such a good mood the whole day. She couldn’t belive that everyone was there for her! The only tears came when she snapped the elastic on her birthday hat just before we sang to her. It was very sad and funny at the same time and with her daddy’s help and the singing she finally stopped. She wants to thank everyone for her great gifts!
For Lila’s actual birthday we took her to the Please Touch Museum. She thought is was amazing, we could have stayed the whole day. She loved exploring and watching the other kids. Her favorite was the Alice in Wonderland table since she could sit next to a giant rabbit and pushing a mini cart in the mini grocery store.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDAD!
This is Lila’s last “1st” Holiday, I can’t belive all those milestones are over, it makes a mommy sad. This is also Lila’s due date and when I think about what I was feeling a year ago and how our lives have changed, I can’t belive it. Jason and I think we are the luckiest people in the world. Last year this day, I was still working and was SO fat. I couldn’t wait for our baby to arrive and I was so sad the baby didn’t arrive on time. Today, we have a toddler, who this week has started walking full time! She is very happy to be on two feet, and only stumbles when she tries to go too fast. She even turned 180 degrees!
We had a great Halloween. Last Saturday we went to Oliva’s house for a costume party with Jen, Alan and Ella. Halloween day we went to gym class in costumes, we had a parade and gym class and then a party on the big parachute in the lobby. Daddy even took off work to come!
Halloween evening we went to Elsa’s house and then met Jen, Ella, Michelle and Ethan in the Mario Lanza park for a baby and toddler trick or treat party. Lila had fun but was a little scared of the costumes and really scared of Daddy’s mask. We had dinner with Elsa and Aunt Jenn and then went back and played at Elsa’s house for a bit and showed off Lila’s walking skills. Even the weather was great, it was 70 degrees.
Lila knows her nose! When asked “where’s your nose” or “where’s daddy’s nose” she points right to it. She is also using her sign language “more” all the time, she’s actually getting a little bossy with it. It seems that cousin Elsa has taught Lila the sound a dog makes, when we see one in a book she makes a low “ruff”. She isn’t doing much with walking this week, just cruising around all the furniture. She is such a good baby, only cries when she is really tired. She has new pretty teeth a new smile that shows the tops and bottoms.
We are very excited, Lila finally has enough hair to make a shampoo mohawk!
Well, she took 1 step between Jenn and Oma and then 4 steps to me and then 4 steps later for her daddy. She didn’t really know what she did but she was happy we were there to clap her here, especially cousin Elsa!
11 months old!
We had a great time with Oma, Granddad, Mark, Jenn and Elsa at the Avalon Beach! We went down for Gail Shovlin and Tom Bozzo’s wedding (it was great!) and Mom and Dad came along for a mini vacation and to help with the little ladies. We had one warm day to play on the beach and in the pool.
The girls had so much fun playing together and having sleepovers at the hotel.
We took a trip one night to the Wildwood boardwalk, we all thought it was very exciting but cold and windy. Oma was sharing her ice cream with Lila and Lila did sign language and asked for “more”! I was so glad I was standing there to see it! She must have really loved that ice cream. On our way back home we stopped by the Cape May County Zoo and checked out the animals.
Lila is an eating machine! She likes every finger food we give her, butternut squash, gnochii, grapes, chicken, carrots…. She continues to hum the whole time she is eating and loud! She does it when we are at home and I can’t even hear the radio above it, she does it when we are out to dinner too!
We have confirmation tonight, Lila is saying Da-Da and is talking about Jason! We have thought this for a while but tonight she was looking at Jason’s picture and saying Da-Da. When I’d show her a picture of someone else she didn’t say anything. Jason was also playing peek a boo with her and she yelled, DaDa! We are so excited. I’ve been trying to get her to say MaMa, she yells Maaaaaammmmmm when she is very very sad or tired. Lila is also getting really good at standing on her own without leaning on anything. Tonight she took my hair clip out of my hair and stood for a minute while she examined it. Her daddy was there too to witness and was very excited. We went to a children’s bug exhibit today, Lila liked to watch the kids, mama and dada ate a chocolate covered bug.
Miss Lila has stopped using her deep voice and now has developed a love of screaming. This scream sounds as if she touched a hot iron, but nah, she is just sitting in her high chair or sitting on the floor or in her stroller. This scream is to tell you she wants to be doing something else or not to even think of taking away whatever she might be doing….like tearing up a magazine and eating it. Her most favorite and most consistent thing to say is “a-doe-dee-doe”. She says this in “normal conversation” but also in her little whisper voice, which is truly wonderful to hear, it is so sweet and gentle.
Lila and Avery, the nasty black cat, are getting along great. He lets her come up to him, and give him a little pat (always supervised). He likes to be around us in the evening (he sleeps all day) and just the sight of him walking by makes Lila squeal. I am trying to get him to be annoyed by her and run away, but he is his own man and likes to stand his ground. Which leads me to manually move him out of the room, even on his medicine, he can’t be trusted.
Lila has been trying some ground beef and veggie burger, she seems to like both. She is just happy when she gets to feed herself. Fruit is her favorite but she liked veggies too.
Tonight we went out for a mexican dinner with Kylie and Paul, Lila loves olives! She also tried guacamole and seemed to like it too. She is such a good eater and loves to experiment!
Lila is crusing around the furniture and stands on her own every so often. But she is such a fast crawler I don’t know if she is going to want to give it up!
September 9th – Lila and Elsa had a very fun play day today! They went their first Gymboree class and had a great time climbing and sliding and crawling all over the place. Then we went to the newly renovated Franklin Square (it’s beautiful) and rode the Merry Go Round. Elsa loved it and Lila was a bit scared and clung onto Mommy like a baby monkey; her knuckles were even white! Then the girls took rides on the swings and climbed on the gym. It was such a fun day and the weather was amazing. Lila and Elsa are such lucky ladies and are going to have years of fun and mischief together!
Aug 31st – Lila had a great summer. We went to the pool a few times, she loved the water especially the baby pool. She really liked to watch the other kids play and splash, they made her laugh out loud. We also had a little pool in the backyard but the mosquitos got too bad they chased us inside.
Jason took off from work and took us to the beach, Island beach State Park. Lila had a great time (sorry, we didn’t take the digital camera to the beach), she loved crawling and playing in the sand. It was everywhere, in her mouth in her diaper…. The waves were too rough and the water too cold to really take her in but we got her feet wet and splashed a bit. She took a long nap on her daddy before leaving the beach and heading to the Seaside boardwalk.
We think Lila is saying Mama and Dada. Well, we know she is saying Maaaammmm and Dada but not always directed to us. Books are her favorite, she spends a lot of time looking at the pictures very closely. Everyday she goes to her book shelf and reviews the spines and then helps herself.
We continue to experiment with finger food. Blueberrys, blueberry panckes, rice cakes, ground beef, veggie meat, toast, cheese, sweet potatos.
Our central air has finally finished being installed! We loved it for 4 days, now it’s cold here, it feels like fall.
Aug 11th – Lila and Lisa had a great 2 week trip to Richmond, although it was terribly hot. Lila had her first trip to the zoo and was able to feed the giraffes. She spent most of her time practicing crawling, pulling up, climbing and chasing Marco the cat.
We went to the doctor for her 9 month check up. She is 20lbs 12 oz and 29 3/4″, still tall and slender.
Lila is eating many wonderful things; peach and banana slices are her favorite. This week we started her on baby food with meat, she doesn’t seem too interested, and maybe she’ll be a vegetarian like her momma.
Lila still loves to talk and has developed a deep loud voice, the pediatrician told us not to worry, its just a phase. Humming loudly while she eats is another favorite.
Only three months until her one year birthday celebration!
July was a fun month, Lila and Lisa’s first month home together. Lila is still in school two days a week so Lisa can continue to pull the house together and Lila can have some fun time with her friends.
Lila is trying new solid foods, like baby puffs, wagon wheels and cheerios. She is starting to like fruit juice and is getting the hang of the sippy cup.
We had many adventures this month. We went to visit our friends in Yardley with Oma, we went to the neighborhood pool with cousin Elsa and we visited Mimi and Gramps in Connecticut.
Lila is learning to do so many things, like clap, pull her shirt off herself, and go up steps. But her favorite is to wave! One handed or two handed, sometimes over her head. To everyone on the street or walking by or to cars or to cats. People love it and usually wave back.
